Viatrexx Bio Issues Voluntary Recall of Injectables

Viatrexx Bio Issues Voluntary Recall of Injectables - Wormington & BollingerLast week, Viatrexx Bio became the latest company to issue a voluntary recall of their sterile injectables due to “a lack of sterility assurance.” On October 15, 2019, Viatrexx Bio Incorporated in Neward, Delaware, announced they would be recalling 10 mL sterile injectable vials of at least 20 different products. This decision came after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found the product to be non-sterile when it was supposed to be sterile. Viatrexx sold all of these recalled products exclusively to private practitioners for in-office use.

Unfortunately, Viatrexx found that some of its products were contaminated and could cause systemic or site-specific infection. If left untreated, this infection may require hospitalization and even a fatal outcome, in some cases. As of today, there have been no reports of the compromised Viatrexx injectables causing any adverse side effects.

If you or a loved one has taken Viatrexx and has experienced any negative side effects, you may be able to seek compensation for your damages. The FDA regulates newly-manufactured drugs every single day. However, numerous things may go wrong with these manufactured medications. Whether improperly manufactured and researched or prescribed without FDA approval (called off-label), these drugs present many dangers. If you’ve been injured or experienced any potentially harmful symptoms after taking Viatrexx, please contact the dangerous drug attorneys at Wormington & Bollinger today. The lot numbers affected range from 1 to 26 and include lymph, facial, and collagen injectables. Most Common Drug Injuries

Unfortunately, the review process for getting prescription medications into the hands of physicians and consumers alike is a flawed one. There are more oversights than many people realize, which means that harmful drugs often hit the market. Over the years, our dangerous drug attorneys have seen firsthand how these medications can negatively impact consumers. In many cases, dangerous drugs are released to the public before any research has been conducted on the potentially harmful side effects.

Lawsuits against the manufacturers and distributors of these drugs are rampant here in Texas and all across the nation. We often find that the manufacturer knowingly released the drug onto the market, disregarding any side effects that may cause injury or death. This is a serious problem and just one of the reasons why medical malpractice is the third-leading cause of death in our country.

Some of the most common injuries from dangerous medications include:

  • Psychological problems
  • Birth defects
  • Cardiac problems
  • Heart attacks
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Stroke
  • Kidney failure
  • Liver failure
  • Uncontrollable bleeding
  • Death

In many cases, these side effects do not show up right away, which can make it difficult to pinpoint the exact source of the problem.

Quality control is a major problem when it comes to manufacturing certain medications, specifically generic drugs in the U.S. However, big pharma outsources much of their manufacturing overseas. And while the FDA does have some regulations in place to oversee these facilities, numerous studies have shown that deceptive practices are rampant in these plants. If you have experienced any negative side effects after taking Viatrexx or another type of drug, please contact the dangerous drug attorneys at Wormington & Bollinger today. Medical mistakes are preventable, but education and awareness are key. Even though medical malpractice and negligence cause almost as many deaths as cancer and heart disease, most people still think of the doctor as someone they can trust. It is imperative you are an advocate for your health and understand absolutely every aspect of your treatment. Ask questions and don’t be afraid to stand up to your health care practitioner. When we go to the doctor or hospital, we assume we are receiving the highest level of care, but this is sadly not always the case.
